Someone who has never cared for an individual with Alzheimer’s or dementia can never really understand how exhausting it is, both mentally and physically. The more unsypathetic observers are almost disgusted that a beloved parent hasn’t been moved to a nursing home permanently. Of course, if you’ve been dealing with a family member with Alzheimer’s, you know that a nursing home is frequently not the answer, especially if you can’t find one that provides quality care.
This site was created to provide support for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s or dementia and is based on the experiences of my family and friends as well as site visitors who cared for their loved ones who suffered from these terrible illnesses. We are acting as patient advocates and are not medical professionals. Any responses to your questions are based on our experiences. Be sure to seek medical care for any health related concerns.
Life Without Memories is dedicated to Ginny, who had a mind ravaged by Alzheimer’s, but never lost her sense of humor.
